New at ÆVRI: the Value Wallet, your own timeline of value
Most of the value we receive or lose is never written down. A colleague's advice that saved a month, a road the city finally repaired, a service that cost a week of nerves. The Value Wallet is a place for your own account of it.
What it keeps
Events: who did what with what or whom. You are the one who acted, the one it affected, a user or a witness. For each event you can note what was promised, what you actually received and what it cost you, and how you see it later. The scale is yours and so are the goals: there are no scores of people, only how much an event moved what matters to you.
Private by default
The wallet lives on your device, encrypted with your passphrase. Nothing leaves it unless you send it. Copies are optional and always encrypted: at the institute, in your private GitHub repository or on any server that speaks the open protocol, and you can move between them. If you forget the passphrase, nobody can open the wallet, unless you chose a provider that can help you recover it.
Confirm with others
Two people can confirm an event together through a relay that keeps nothing longer than 14 days. If both sides agree, an arbiter can confirm it or decide; by default this is the institute, free during the pilot. On research pages readers can send the author feedback from their wallet; the author sees the median and the words once five readers have answered.
Works with VET and VSS
Open what you received in VET and estimate it on two scales: what it gave you and what it cost you, including harm. In a VSS schema, record a transfer along a flow in your wallet; the schema keeps only the short summary you allow.
The Value Wallet is an open, non-commercial standard: the specification under CC BY 4.0, the code under MIT. Publication on GitHub is being prepared.
